Upstream Investment Banking Associate

Position Description

Pickering Energy Partners (PEP) is a premier energy-focused financial services platform headquartered in Houston. With decades of experience across the energy value chain, the PEP integrates Investments, Research, Capital Markets, and Investment Banking to provide world-class strategic advice and long-term value for our clients.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Financial Analysis & Modeling: Lead complex financial analysis, including net asset valuation (NAV), discounted cash flow (DCF), precedent transactions, and public trading comparables. Lead merger consequences, to provide actionable insights for our clients’ most critical strategic decisions.
  • Strategic Market Insights: Monitor industry trends and conduct deep-dive market research to produce actionable reports that guide client strategic decision-making.
  • Client Deliverables: Drive the creation of high-impact client presentations, pitch books, and deal-related marketing materials to effectively communicate opportunities.
  • Transaction Due Diligence: Spearhead the due diligence process by analyzing financial statements, assessing complex business risks, and identifying key value drivers for potential deals.
  • Deal Execution & Coordination: Manage the operational lifecycle of financial transactions, ensuring effective communication between all parties and seamless execution.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Act as a primary lead for junior team members, overseeing the quality and accuracy of deliverables while actively mentoring on technical modeling, industry nuances, and professional development.

Specific Qualifications

  • Timing: Ability to start immediately is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of analogous financial experience (e.g., Investment Banking Analyst/Associate, Private Equity, or Corporate Development) or an MBA from a top program.
  • Technical Excellence: Strong proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with FactSet, Bloomberg, and Enverus or Novi Labs a plus.
  • Market Acumen: A deep-seated interest in energy markets and a strong grasp of global financial trends.
  • Communication & Drive: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the "entrepreneurial grit" to manage multiple high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Information

  • Location: This is an in-person position based in our Houston office.
  • Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.
  • Equal Opportunity: PEP is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other characteristic protected by applicable laws. We encourage a diverse and inclusive workplace and welcome candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
