Private Equity Upstream Oil & Gas Accountant
Position Description
PEP’s PE team is looking for an individual that has a background in accounting in the upstream oil and gas industry, ideally someone that works or has worked at an upstream, outsourced accounting and/or a financial audit firm. Proficient knowledge in all areas of upstream accounting, including revenue and JIB processing, is a must for the position. Qualified candidates should be comfortable working in a small team and have the ability to handle multiple projects while still providing a timely, accurate and efficient work product. This candidate needs to be professional, organized, have strong communication skills and should be comfortable occasionally presenting materials internally to the PE group and/or the PE team’s investment committee.
Primary Responsibilities
- Joint Interest Billing processing, including carry / ORRI reconciliations
- Revenue processing
- Proactive communication with operating partners regarding correct billing and revenue payments
- General ledger preparation and/or review, i.e., lease operating statement management
- Manage PEP PE’s lookback analyses, including operating costs, AFEs vs. actuals and gross production reporting
- Assist with quarterly and year-end fund performance / financial reporting
- Cash management between funds / balancing fund accounts
- Confirming hedge volumes and pricing
- Manage paperwork associated with division orders, direct deposits, W9s, etc.
- Audit schedule preparation
- Ad-hoc requests from the PE team related to accounting and reporting requirements
- Interacting with the CFO of Pickering Energy Partners, the operations group and the fund administrator
Specific Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Upstream oil & gas experience
- Advanced Excel experience
- Advanced PowerPoint skills is preferred
- CPA is preferred
- OnDemand accounting software experience is preferred
